Okay girls we all have cellulite! There is no shame in having it, but with swimsuit season coming up I would love to get rid of a little bit of mine. Total personal preference here.

What exactly is Cellulite?:

Just a little refresher here! Many of us have it, but to know how to get rid of it we need to know the basics. Literally the dictionary description is “persistent subcutaneous fat causing dimpling of the skin, especially on women's hips and thighs” aka what people call cottage cheese. I find that term actually pretty gross and it makes me feel nauseous. LOL

What is cupping?:

Cupping is a 200 year old practice where you heat up cups that create suction on the surface of the skin. This stimulates the flow of energy in the body and pulls toxins from the skin, there’s what looks like a hickey left afterwards. This new at home treatment is really manageable and way less expensive than a spa! Not only does it help blood flow, it helps with inflammation, relaxation, well-being, and also can be used as a form of deep tissue massage. The cups can be made out of glass, bamboo, earthenware, or silicone (like this cellu-cup). There is also two forms of cupping- wet and dry. I also read about new version some are doing, called needle cupping. They place acupuncture needles in the skin and put the cup around them. Points for creativity, but I'll stick with my cute, hot pink, silicone cup for now.

How can cupping help with cellulite??

  1. Cupping helps to stretch and also relax the hardened tissue that is underneath the skin. This helps so that it increases the elasticity and as a result reduces the appearance of cellulite (stubborn dimples!).

  1. Using the process of cupping helps promotes healthy circulation of nutrient-rich blood. This works to rejuvenate the skin and underlying tissues under the skin.

  1. It stimulates the flow of lymphatic drainage! This is the part of the body’s detoxification system, which happens naturally! Cupping just speeds up the process. This helps to get rid of fluid retention that actually emphasizes the appearance of cellulite.

How do I use Cell-u-cup?:

Okay you have to use oil! You can also you soap in your shower, but I mean if you use oil then you also moisturize your legs and tush. So use oil people! Then pinch the cup to squeeze the air out and suction it to your leg. You will glide it up and down your leg for a total of two minutes. Then do large “s” motions for one minute to really get deep down in the tissue. This should not hurt, but you should feel it suctioned to your leg at all times. The pink cell-u-cup will turn white when it is activated (which happens when it starts to pull heat from your body).

There is a video on proper technique I’ll link below! For me, I love doing this before bed because it is super relaxing and I’m starting to see results!

Of course this is no miracle treatment and you must use it everyday with proper diet/exercise. I mean hey- I am all about a little extra help in the cellulite department! Would love to see others results and I will link below where you can buy one on Amazon!

Happy cupping!
